We’re very excited to be hiring for three new positions at North York Arts! The Events & Program Coordinator, Special Projects Coordinator, and Community Engagement Coordinator will work to support the NYA staff on with upcoming projects and endeavors over the next few months. The Events & Program Coordinator will focus on coordination for NYA’s summer festival Cultura, taking place at Mel Lastman Square in North York and other NYA community programs. The position will report to the Festival Producer and Senior Program Manager and work closely with other NYA staff and events stakeholders. The work will require in-person and online interaction with artists and performance talent, the public and NYA team members. Heavy lifting of event equipment will be required. Cultura Festival is on July 8, 15, 22 and 29 of July, from 4-11:30pm. In person work will be required on these days.

The Special Projects Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and coordinating two special projects for NYA: 

  1. Grow North – a professional development program for North York – based artists at all stages in their careers;  
  2. A new outdoor mural/public art series (name TBD) across 6 North York wards, featuring visual artists and engagement with community members. 

The position will report to the Senior Program Manager and work closely with other NYA staff and stakeholders. The work will require in-person meetings with community members including artists and other service agencies across North York, and online interaction with artists and NYA team members. This position will play an integral role in the development of NYA’s expanded reach to serve more artists in North York.

The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and coordinating a robust community engagement strategy for NYA, with a particular focus on building relationships with volunteers, local community partners and service providers in the Downsview and surrounding area. The position will report to the Senior Program Manager and work closely with other NYA staff and stakeholders. The work will require in-person meetings with community members including artists and other service agencies in the Downsview area, and online interaction with artists and NYA team members. This position will play an integral role in the development of NYA’s expanded reach into Toronto’s North West region.
